I had tried many times over so many years to write a song about the sexual abuse I experienced as a child, but how the hell do you write about that!? Every few years, I need a few therapy sessions and finally one of those folks said, "why don't you write a song to and for that little girl as if you were her mother? Brilliant I thought! This was one of the hardest songs to get right on this album! the "Road that Walks" is a term that Florence Scovel Shinn uses to describe faith...and the "you can come back" lyric references the re-uniting with what some call the "inner child."
